The delivery was four hours late. The driver says the customer kept him waiting at the first drop. The customer says he arrived late and left promptly. Dispatch remembers reassigning the run at some point but not exactly when. Everyone is describing the same afternoon and no two accounts fit together.
The evidence exists, technically. It is a few thousand position rows in a table, and reading them is nobody's idea of an afternoon. So somebody opens a map, sees a line from A to B, and learns nothing: the line is the same shape whether the truck cruised it in three hours or spent two of them stationary in a lay-by.
What is missing is sequence. The route tells you where. It does not tell you the order things happened in, how fast, with the engine on or off, or which of the two long stops was the customer's fault and which was lunch. Without that, the meeting reverts to whoever is most confident.

The value is in the alignment. A stop is not just a gap in movement. It is a stop of fifty-two minutes, beginning at 14:06, inside the customer's geofence, engine off after the first four minutes. That single sentence resolves the waiting-time dispute, and it comes out of the record rather than out of anyone's account of it.
Replay does not assign blame or infer intent, and it should not be sold as though it does. It cannot tell you the driver was on his phone or that the customer's forklift had broken down. It shows the vehicle's behaviour precisely and leaves the interpretation to the people in the room, who now at least agree on the facts they are interpreting.

As far back as your retention window allows, since KO Fleetz builds replay from the same stored fixes as the rest of the platform. This is the practical argument for setting retention against how late your disputes arrive rather than against storage cost alone. A trip outside the window cannot be replayed, because the underlying record has gone. Decide the period before you need it, not after.
It shows the recorded track, which is accurate to metres rather than to lanes. On a dual carriageway with a parallel service road, the track will usually make the distinction clear. In a dense city with tall buildings it sometimes will not, because reflected signals pull fixes off the true position. Replay reproduces what the receiver reported and does not invent precision it never had.
It can prove what the vehicle did. It cannot prove why. A replay will show a stop of fifty minutes inside a customer's yard, or a sustained speed above the limit on a specific stretch. It will not show that the customer's dock was blocked, or that the driver was overtaking a broken-down car. Treat it as evidence for a conversation, not as a verdict that arrives without one.
Less than fleets expect, and it depends entirely on how it is introduced. A tool used only to build cases against people is resented, correctly. A tool that also clears a driver blamed for a delay that was the customer's does the opposite. Replay is symmetrical evidence, and drivers work that out quickly. What damages trust is discovering it exists during a disciplinary meeting.
Buffered fixes normally fill the gap once the device reconnects, so the replay reconstructs completely even though it was not visible live. Where fixes are genuinely missing, KO Fleetz marks the discontinuity rather than interpolating across it. A confident straight line through unknown territory would be the one part of the replay that was invented, which is exactly what makes the rest of it worthless.
