The call comes in and everything after it is improvised

It starts with a driver on a bad line describing where he is. Somewhere past the second toll, near a place with a blue sign. The supervisor writes a landmark on a sticky note, rings three garages, gets one voicemail and one maybe, and forty minutes have gone before anyone knows what actually failed.

Nobody is running a clock. The recovery operator says an hour and arrives in three, and there is no record of when he was called, when he accepted, or when he turned up. The question that decides everything — was this a fifteen-minute fix or a five-hour wait for the wrong truck — cannot be answered afterwards, because nobody was writing anything down while it mattered.

Then the event evaporates. The load got rescued, the vehicle came back, everyone moved on. The same alternator fails on the same model six weeks later and nobody connects them, because the first one lives in a message thread on a supervisor's personal phone and the second one is about to.

Turn the phone call into a record with a clock on it

KO Fleetz opens the event the moment it is reported and starts with the two things the call usually cannot supply: the vehicle's actual coordinates from its tracker, and its recent telematics. Frequently asked questions

No. Nothing in this module stops a water pump failing on a Tuesday. It handles the response and the record. The prevention argument belongs to Preventive Maintenance and Vehicle Inspections, and the connection between them is the point: every roadside event here closes with a cause, and those causes are what tell you a service interval is wrong or a component is failing early across a model. Treat this as the module that makes prevention smarter rather than the one that does it.

It degrades and you should know how. Without a tracker the position comes from the driver's phone if the app is installed, or is typed in by the controller if it is not. Triage, dispatch, the response clock, outcome capture and pattern analysis all still work — those depend on people recording events, not on hardware. What you lose is the automatic position and the recent fault data, which is the part that usually saves the first half hour.

The app queues the report and sends it when coverage returns, but that is cold comfort in a dead spot with a load going warm. Realistically the driver phones in and the controller opens the event from the desk, using the vehicle's last known tracker position, which is normally close enough to dispatch against. Coverage gaps are a real limit of any roadside system. The design assumption here is that the controller can always open the event even when the driver cannot.

A work order is a repair with a bay, a technician and a parts list. A breakdown event is everything before that: where is it, how bad, who goes, how long until the wheels turn. Most events end by producing a work order, either at the roadside or when the vehicle reaches the workshop, and some produce two — the temporary fix and the permanent one. Keeping them separate is what lets you measure response time and repair time as the different problems they are.

Yes, and you should. KO Fleetz does not sell recovery and does not route you to a preferred network. Your contractors are set up as responders with their coverage areas, capabilities and contact routes, and the platform dispatches to them. What you get that you do not have now is a record of how each one actually performs — accepted-to-on-scene time by contractor and by region — which tends to be a more useful negotiating position than the impression that one of them is slow.

A person does. The controller has the failure description, the driver's account, the vehicle's fault data and the position in front of them, and makes the call. The platform does not attempt that judgement, because it turns on things it cannot see: whether the fitter carries that part today, whether the vehicle is somewhere it can safely be worked on, and how much the load is worth. What the record does is make the decision reviewable afterwards.
